Nearly thirty years in, I still find the most meaningful part of this work in the moment when someone's financial picture finally becomes clear to them. The questions stop sounding so overwhelming, the decisions start making sense, and what felt impossible a few months earlier starts to look manageable. That has been the constant throughout a career that began not in financial planning but in accounting. Working on the finances side of a wealth management firm gave me a close look at what comprehensive financial planning actually requires, and I decided that was the work I wanted to do.
I earned my CFP® designation in 1996, graduated from Centenary College with degrees in both accounting and business, and spent time at Merrill Lynch before joining Trosclair Wealth Management. The accounting foundation I started with still guides my I approach on the technical side of planning: pulling together tax returns, investment statements, loan documents, and estate planning materials, analyzing everything in full, and developing recommendations that are specific to where each client actually is. My clients and colleagues describe me as dependable and genuinely committed to the work, and that is still the standard I hold myself to today.
One experience that has stayed with me is helping a woman who had unexpectantly lost her spouse. She came in terrified and unable to see a path forward. I organized her financial picture piece by piece, built a plan that gave her a clear view of her income and future, and slowed everything down so she had time to understand before she had to decide anything. Watching the fear in those early conversations give way to confidence and direction is the reason I continue doing this work.
Outside the office, I am a fitness coach who genuinely loves helping people push past the limits they set for themselves. When I am not coaching, I am usually in the kitchen testing a new recipe or baking something for whoever happens to be around. I grew up in Shreveport and now live in Baton Rouge with my husband, our three children, and our Shih-Tzu, Gumby. I serve as a Sustaining Advisor with the Junior League, Treasurer of the JPHA, and on the board of the Emerge Foundation. And while I am an avid traveler, my favorite place to be is wherever my family is gathered.
